High costs of living are hurting Australians. Everything has gone up: housing, food, energy, internet, transport – and more.

In these tough times, there’s one free and ad-free service we can rely on: the ABC.

Whether it’s educating and entertaining our kids, showcasing Australian drama, or bringing us the latest news, the ABC’s programs are available for all Australians.

We must keep the ABC free: no fire sale to commercial interests, no ads, and no subscriptions.

A sell-off would destroy the ABC’s independence – and its credibility.

Ads would compromise its ability to conduct serious investigations without fear of offending advertisers.

And subscriptions would make the ABC unaffordable for many people.

Privatisation can take many forms.

It need not be a straight sell-off. It can be insidious and slowly destructive.

For years, the ABC’s enemies have sought to privatise our public broadcaster – and they’re waiting for an opportunity to try again.

An independent, free ABC is central to its role as a public broadcaster that tells the news without fear or favour.

We call on all political parties and election candidates to guarantee that the ABC will remain free and accessible for all Australians.

Support our call to strengthen the ABC and make sure it’s there for future generations.
